Green Economy South Georgian Bay
You want a sustainable future for your business and your community.
We want that too.
Laying the Foundation for a Sustainable Regional Economy
Green Economy South Georgian Bay is a strategic first step toward developing an innovative, locally tailored approach to building a sustainable economy in our region. Grounded in collaboration and a multi-sector partnership model, this initiative seeks to align environmental responsibility with economic resilience.
By identifying and amplifying what’s already working, and testing new ways to support local businesses, we will be positioned to build a long-term, high-impact model.

Shaping a Greener Economy
2025 Survey Results
Earlier this year, we surveyed businesses across South Georgian Bay to learn more about their sustainability goals, challenges, and opportunities. These insights are helping us understand where businesses currently are on their sustainability journey, their awareness, interest, and readiness to take action, so we can better shape our programs and support to meet local needs.
>50%
Of respondents are currently taking action by reducing waste and/or increasing their energy efficiency
65%
Reported that reducing costs & access to funding is the biggest motivator to take action on sustainability.
53%
Note the biggest barrier to taking more sustainable action is cost.
“Information and support are both so important. Sometimes, business owners get lost in the day-to-day, and having guidance in bigger-picture things like sustainability would make a huge difference.”
