About the event

Climate Change is affecting us all - in many ways.  Some we can clearly see, others maybe not so much...yet..  The Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment (CAPE) recently stated health issues related to climate change are a growing concern - both physically and mentally.  Organizations, physicians, psychologists, health networks, climate organizations,  individuals and many others are starting to mobilize and take action.  As part of Climate Action Week for Public Libraries We are hosting an event 'Climate, Mental Health, and Hope' on Wednesday November 6th 6:45pm-8pm.   Join in conversation with  Lauren Jeffrey, Community Program Coordinator, South Georgian Bay Community Health Centre and Catherine Daw, Board Chair, Collingwood Climate Action Team.   Come and hear about this increasingly important issue and what's happening from Climate Mental Networks, Climate Psychology Alliances, and especially locally right here in our region.  Explore what Green RX prescriptions are and how Climate Cafes provide safe spaces to talk about climate change.

The Collingwood Climate Action Team is based on the traditional territory of the Haundenosaunee and Anishinabek peoples and, specifically, unceded Saugeen Ojibway territory. Our ancestors established a treaty relationship and responsibility with the Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation and Saugeen First Nation, collectively the Saugeen Ojibway Nation (SON) - which we strive to uphold today. We are thankful for the opportunity to benefit from the continuing protection and stewardship of the land, air and waters by Indigenous Peoples who have protected them for thousands of years. This area we now call home is also home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples with whom we wish to work together towards truth and reconciliation.
